NIIMBL is pleased to announce that John Balchunas will join the NIIMBL staff as Workforce Director, effective November 1, 2018. John will take over for Kathi Greene, who has decided to retire after a distinguished industry career. Kathi will continue to support NIIMBL through the end of 2018.
John brings significant experience in biopharmaceutical workforce development programs. Since 2014, he has served as Assistant Director of Professional Development Programs at North Carolina State University’s Biomanufacturing Training & Education Center (BTEC), where he has responsibility for program management, business development, and partnerships focused on BTEC’s open enrollment and customized professional development program. Prior to joining BTEC, John was Workforce Director at the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, where he worked with industry to understand biopharmaceutical education needs and catalyzed value-adding workforce development programs.
Since our Institute’s launch, Kathi has provided leadership in launching several projects and initiatives to support NIIMBL’s workforce development goals. We would like to express our gratitude to Kathi for her tireless commitment to the Institute. We wish her well a happy, healthy, and relaxing retirement.
